About this Webinar:

Currently, HETRA organizes and trains over 200 volunteers in varying stages of horse skills progression
from barn maintenance to barn leader. The majority of our volunteers come to us with little to no horse
experience and our strategy teaches them everything they need to know to serve our participants while
working safely with horses alongside staff and other volunteers. Learn about the benefits of our 10+
volunteer positions and discover why we think investing the time matters in the long run.

Objectives of this webinar

  • Show the benefits of structured volunteer positions
  • Define HETRA’s volunteer positions and parameters
  • Explain HETRA’s training schedule
  • Define specialized volunteer positions and parameters
  • Present alternative volunteer path for horse-experienced volunteers
  • Present ideas for keeping it all organized

Meet Your Presenter

Rachelle Tidwell, Volunteer Operations Manager

Rachelle joined HETRA in 2018 as the Volunteer Operations Manager. With the help of her team, she
oversees the organization and training of 200+ volunteers at HETRA. Rachelle has over 20 years of
experience volunteering with several non-profit organizations both in the military and as a civilian. That
experience offered her awareness to a broad spectrum of volunteer structure and training and provided
valuable insight that there is more than one right way to approach these things.

This webinar was produced by HETRA University

At HETRA, we are committed to providing high-quality education and programming to our participants and community, but that commitment isn’t restricted to the boundaries of the HETRA campus. Now, our Instructors and Therapists can share their wealth of knowledge with you in your very own home! Through these online materials, HETRA can continue to teach and serve our community regardless of the obstacles that are preventing our community from coming out to the barn. Please take a moment to explore some of the great content our staff have put together for you, and let us know what other topics you’d like us to cover!
